Deborah Circle
(disbanded)

CWF Deborah Group 9/23/96 thru 9/23/20

With the disbanding of the CWF Deborah Group I would like to lift up our projects and accomplishments from our time of being active.

The CWF Deborah Group had their first meeting on 9/23/96 with 6 people in attendance, which grew to 12 people within the first 3 months.  During this time span of 24 years we had a strong membership of an average of 12 individuals.  During the last 5 years our membership has dropped to 6 with 3 to 4 people meeting monthly.  Due to our groups small numbers we choose to disband.  Below is a list of our service projects and activity within the 24 years of service to the CWF.

We were active in the General CWF council; we worked diligently on Women’s Day (Sunday), our CWF Spring Luncheons, the CWF turkey dinner,  Bread and Broth; Fellowship lunches for the whole church, we took our turn of serving meals to the Youth during their weekly meetings, providing sack meals for the Youth Mission Trips, and took our turn in cleaning the nursery.

Our groups projects included supporting Heifer International, calling on Shut-Ins and supporting the Pantry needs, supplying the Region with health kits, collecting empty medicine bottles for the Franciscan Mission and now Micha Ministries, the Back-Snack project for the public schools, and funding for the Youth Mission Trips.

We also supported making auction baskets for the Tall Oaks Gala, decorating the tables and serving food at the Fuller Center BBQ Fund Raiser, and providing meals to Family Promises.

We supported the Valentine Project since 2002 and in 2012 thru 2020 the Deborah group spear-headed the project.  In order to fund the postage for the Valentine boxes we organized an bake sale, with the help of the congregation, we were able to pay for the postage of at times of over 35 boxes.  In 2013 we started the annual School Supply Drive and with the help of the congregation we collected many, many items which then was sent to area schools.

As a point of interest, the Deborah Group submitted Mary Ann Patterson’s name as Woman of the Year at the Women’s Disciples Quadrennial in 1998.  This was a very special event for some of the women from our church when there were 7 of us who traveled to Indianapolis to attend the Quadrennial in support of Mary Ann Patterson.

Thank you for allowing us to go down memory lane and to share with you some of the projects and fellowships that we shared together.
