Welcome to Park Hill Christian Church
Who We AreOur motto at Park Hill Christian Church is Praising, Loving and Serving.
We praise God in our weekly blended (contemporary/traditional) worship service. We are a "come as you are" community. It doesn't matter what clothes you wear, what car you drive or the job you hold. We come together in love and care for one another no matter our differences. Our goal is to serve as Christ served. Both within our community, our city, our nation and our world. We work together to meet the needs of a wounded and hurting world. Come join our celebration. Come join our purpose. Come join our love. To find out more about Disciples of Christ click here. The identity statement of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) states "We are Disciples of Christ a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us."
We participate in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Greater Kansas City. Our BeliefsWe confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
We believe Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God and we believe that it is through Christ that we have salvation. We believe we must humble ourselves before God, seek his forgiveness of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to be fully restored before God. Communion. We partake in the Lord's Supper every Sunday. Moreover, we believe everyone is welcome to the table for it is not our table but the Lord's Table given freely for all. We share communion as one people knowing all have fallen short of the glory of God. Just as Jesus welcomed people from all walks of life, we welcome everyone in this celebration of our Lord's life, death and resurrection. Baptism. We believe that baptism is most appropriately experienced at an age of discernment in which one personally understands what it means to make a personal commitment to God by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We practice baptism by immersion believing that it is symbolic of the old self-centered life dying and a new life of trusting God beginning. We do also recognize other forms of baptism. What Wholeness means to us. We believe in Christian unity by cooperating and partnering with other faith communities to bring about healing and justice. In honor of our denominations heritage we believe strongly in the unity of all Christians to work towards a world that honors the least of these. We are called to study and read scripture for ourselves. We critically and thoughtfully study scripture while taking into account the history and background - the context - in which it was written. In all that we do our goal is to be a people answering God's call for justice in a broken and fragmented world. We care for the refugee, the men, women and children in poverty and hunger. We strive to better the lives of all people throughout the world and our community. We seek to do this in God's amazing Love and Grace. Our Statement of Purpose. Our purpose is to glorify God, by worshiping together inviting everyone into our church family, nurturing spiritual growth and serving God's people in our community and around the world.
